Anthony M. Gunde obtained a Ph.D in Journalism Studies from Stellenbosch University in South Africa in December, 2015. He has an MA in Communications from Missouri State University, USA, a BA in English and Business Administration from Andrews University, Solusi College and a Post-graduate University Certificate in Education (UCE) from the University of Malawi. He has been lecturing at the University of Malawi’s Chancellor College in media, communication and cultural studies since 2010. Dr. Gunde has presented papers at multiple local and international conferences on democratic governance, gender, political economy of the media, and education. His works appear in a number of peer-reviewed journals and his research interests intersect between the political economy of mass communications, rhetorical analysis and culture. Recently, He has focused his interests in persuasive communication to change attitudes and behaviours. In 2017, Dr. Gunde led a team of consultants that developed a communication strategy for Climate Change Adaptation (2017-2022 Communication Strategy) in the ADAPT PLAN project which is implemented by the Government of Malawi, through the Ministry of Natural Resources Energy and Mining with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
